Solid Brooklyn experience
The Box House hotel delivers. Local art, cute design, Walkable to shops, river views, and a charming Milk And Roses restaurant just next door - real fireplace in winter! Friendly, laid back staff. Brooklyn Lantern breakfast was good. Pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurt, bacon. The potatoes were delicious. Comfortable bed. Big room - there was a hanging / luggage area for me, and a balcony to boot! Wifi worked well throughout stay. It is an independent chain operating in Brooklyn area, with Henry Norman and Franklin Inn, so if you are after a local Brooklyn experience - I’d say this brand pretty much nails it for a short stay. I did pay extra for early check in and took the recommendation to use the steam bath - that was recharging and removed a lot of the international flight aftermath I was having. The steam bath looks good for single person use which was empty while I was there so no issues when I wanted to use it but not sure what this means if there is increased demand for it. Also the steam bath is in a common space on ground level - so you got to like be okay to get out of your room to use it - there are towels but just a few open shelves to put your clothes or keycards while in the shared sauna. If all this sounds like too much trouble then well, I just ran a hot water bath in the privacy of my own room. Bathroom has no heating, FYI.

We all know most hotels try to get away with a "resort" fee, but this is a resort fee PLUS a "destination fee"
Denise at the front desk gets the award for the RUDEST person and the manager Kristina doesnt reply to messages or emails.
AVOID this hotel at all costs. They also have zero parking and the parting in the surrounded area is always full.
Lastly, while all their competition in the area offers free breakfast, they charge $22 for it, and have allowed Hotels.com to charge $30 for the same thing. It is nothing special.
