I had an incredibly disappointing experience during my recent stay at Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang, and I feel compelled to share my frustrations to help others make an informed decision.
Unresponsive and unfriendly staff: Upon checking into my room, I discovered that the kettle was not functioning. I promptly reported this issue to the front desk at 5:40 PM, and I was assured by both the front desk and housekeeping staff that it would be resolved "immediately." However, despite their promises, no action was taken even by 10:20 PM when I returned from my business event. Such a long delay for a simple request is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the hotel's customer service.
Broken promises and inconvenience: The delay in resolving the kettle issue caused me to stay up until 11:30 PM, well beyond my usual bedtime of 11:00 PM. This disrupted my routine and affected my rest, which is unacceptable when staying at a hotel that advertises comfort and convenience.
Unsafe and poorly maintained room: To make matters worse, the ceiling was leaking, causing the floor to become dangerously slippery and waterlogged. This created a serious safety hazard, and I was extremely concerned about the risk of slipping. I even have photos to show the extent of the issue.
Disrupted sleep due to leaking sound: The continuous leaking sound from the ceiling not only added to the discomfort but also disrupted my sleep, resulting in a poor-quality rest during my stay.
Overall, my experience at Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang was highly unsatisfactory. The combination of poor service, broken promises, hazardous room conditions, and disrupted sleep makes it clear that this hotel fails to prioritize guest satisfaction and safety. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone and urge management to address these issues immediately. I'm extremely upset and disappointed with the service quality of the hotel.

Dear Chee Keong Choong,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I deeply regret the challenges you encountered during your stay with us. Your experience falls far short of the high standards we strive to maintain, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. I am particularly concerned about the delayed response to your kettle issue and the lack of follow-through, which does not reflect the service we aim to deliver. I have investigated the housekeeping department and understand a replacement kettle was sent to your room at 6.25 pm. Additionally, the maintenance problems in your room, including the leaking ceiling and its impact on your safety and comfort, are unacceptable, and we are taking immediate steps to address these issues. Your comments highlight areas for improvement, and we will review our procedures to ensure such incidents do not happen again. I value your feedback and appreciate the opportunity to make things right. We hope to be given a chance to earn back your trust, and we will do our best to provide you with a great hotel experience on your next visit. Best regards, Lynne Choong Hotel Manager

Older hotel in need of complete facelift

Musky smell in the lobby. The entire hotel itself is in need of refurbishment. Room is very dated and stained. There are cracks on the walls. Not sure if the curtains were washed since. The bathrooms have mold on ceiling, shower curtain and around tub, perhaps from the non existence of an exhaust fan? The door is peeling and stained. There were no floor mat or hand towels provided. The bath towels are thin and had some stains and smelled heavily of fabric softener. The soaps provided are the cheap kind and disintegrated into sloppy mess. Water in the tub did not drain properly when showering. Water output from shower head is uneven even after moving the dial. Bathroom walls are also dirty. TV wasn’t working and the remote is crusty and disgusting. Note that there are no mattress protectors on the mattresses. How often were the mattresses deep cleaned? The only nice thing about the hotel are the staff. Friendly and helpful. This hotel is definitely not 3-star and not worth RM300 (in local currency as advertised in lobby).

1. Hotel is conveniently situated but around a million years old. Big rooms but poor facilities.
2. Blocked drains, toiletries are low grades toilet paper is cheap and thin.
3. No variation in air-conditioning
4. Breakfast is DISMAL - the menu needs some serious revamping. Cheese is processed, very old fashioned set up. Things stored in containers, tables have to be shared with other families. When food runs out it is not replaced.
This hotel has so much potential but clearly lacks good leadership and passion to make it better.

Excellent service from FOA during my check in. I am glad that the room are really spacious with clean towels, great king bed & toiletries and the most perfect mirror for me to get my hijab on.
You wouldn't have to worry about the scenery.. perfect big windows with amazing views of the city and if you're really lucky, upper levels have the views that might catch the ocean!!!
I had a lovely walk from Little India back to Bayview Hotel Georgetowm after diner and manage to stop for a nice ocean breeze at Penang Esplanade right across The Chambers Hotel.
