The hotel is tucked away on a quiet side street within Gion - a beautiful, old area of Kyoto. The room was spacious and clean. The king bed was big and so comfy. The staff were very kind and helpful and the traditional Japanese breakfast was so tasty. We had the best stay and would highly recommend.

I know the flaws and would absolutely stay again

Wonderful location, charming little boutique hotel. On a street that managed to be quiet yet only a stone's throw from the madness of sakura season Kyoto. Really a beautiful neighborhood. Very charming place. Nice touches like coffee beans, a hand grinder and pour over in the room. There was an amenity station in the lobby, but we never used it. Really, for me they are just a few coat hooks and better pillows away from a 5 star review. We had a deluxe triple for our family (mom, dad, teen) and it felt a little cramped for sure. Not enough storage. The closet was tucked away around a corner in the far side of the room and was a little hard to get to around a bed, luggage, etc. Just cramped. A few coat hooks near the door would have been great. I ended up tossing my jackets on the floor most of the time. Also- bring your eye masks. Definitely no blackout curtains here. It was never dark in the room. Very quiet though.

The hotel staff was excellent and the location was right in the heart of everything. The few issues were the room had a damp smell, the pillows were so flat even after stacking two of them, and the tub stopper didn't work. Other than that the room was very clean and I would probably stay here again.

Loved how unique this hotel is. Our room was quite large compared to other places we stayed in Japan. Very clean and so close to so many attractions.

It took us a while to find the hotel when we first got to Kyoto as it’s nestled in this neighborhood with a subtle sign. We really enjoyed our stay here as it was a great location, comfortable rooms and very clean. We really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast every morning. Minutes from subway stations, shops and restaurants. The staff is super friendly and spoke English too.
