Home away from home

What a wonderful guesthouse! We so enjoyed our stay, and the proprietor is just a gem -- very accommodating and friendly. This property is on the other side of the river from the center of the old town (less than 10 minutes on foot), and very near the train station (about a three minute walk). We loved this location because it was quiet and interesting and we might not have explored it otherwise.
Our three-bed room was very comfortable. Unusually large bathroom; one of the windowshades was missing which I imagine they'll fix soon. Gorgeous windows and lots of natural light. We slept great in the beds for both nights we were there, and housekeeping did tend to the room after the first night. The whole property has an air of calm and spaciousness about it.
The breakfast was excellent! Buffet style and really big selection. Tea and coffee available almost anytime; there was usually a fruit bowl out also. We stayed during a very unusual cold snap and the breakfast area was cold in the mornings; I doubt this would be an issue most other times of the year. Looked like they had an outdoor courtyard which would be a great place to eat breakfast during nicer weather.

Small restaurant with room to improve.

Have been there several times with my customers because they offer interesting menus, but every time something was not ok. Once they forgot one dish, next time the ordered drink, but last time they did not want to receive us at 20:30h! We had reserved a table for 4 people business dinner and after a sightseeing walk through the old town we arrived 30 min. later than announced. Then we were told that as it was a hot day the kitchen has already been closed ("20:30pm!) and that they cannot serve us any more! They will never see us again and we will publish this unprofessional behaviuor to all business friends and visitors in Schwäbisch Hall!
Hotel rooms and service seem also not to be recommendable.

Nice location, but with compromises

Schwabisch Hall is a great place, i am lucky to have customers close by and i enjoy visiting it every time. This hotel we booked as the Golden Adler was full ( the place to be!) Scholl is a expensive hotel and not worth the money so we choose to try this hotel.
- it;s nice old and has unique rooms.
- It s well located on the otherside of Schwabish hall but still walkable distance of downtown.
- Rooms are noisy, I stayed in the room above the restaurant, you can hear every word downstairs, and i mean litterly every word.
- Bathrooms are small and had a leak in the tub which was not fixed but kept in control by a bucket :-).
- You come by car, you need to go to public parking in a garage or at the trainstation.
- Breakfast was okay, but basic.
- Price of 85 euro is too high for this hotel. It's time they do some maintenance.

Good restaurant, forget the hotel part

I have had a number of meals at the Blauer Bock restaurant. Some of their dishes are quite creative and somewhat outside of the usual Swabian cuisine on offer elsewhere. My experience is that the kitchen can be stretched to the limits with larger groups of guests. On one occasion, there were 12 of us, and the main courses came in two or three batches, leaving those served last to eat whilst those served earlier had long finished their meals. However, the quality of the food far offset this obvious faux pas. Last week, I tried to book a room at the hotel via the establishment's own web site and in German. Despite a follow-up email I never got a reply. Subsequently trying via a booking site which clearly listed my requested dates with rooms available, my submission was returned with a "fully booked" message. Not very professional.

Very nice B&B near the heart of Schwaebisch Hall

I stayed here for 2 nights with a very dear friend of mine and it was one of my favorite places we stayed while traveling around Southern Germany. The room was on the first floor and it was very cozy and spacious. It came with a large bedroom, a small living room, and a large bath. We had a view that overlooked parts of the "Altstadt" in Schwaebisch Hall. The breakfast was traditional German style with a large selection of breads, yogurt, musli, cheeses, and meats. Very delicious! The price for our double bedroom was 89 Euro, which I feel is very fair for the quality of this place. Would definitely come back!
