A great Christmas spent
The room very clean and spacious. The food was very good and tasty. Staff very friendly and attentive.

No food in the restaurants for hotel guests
You book a hotel stay if you don't want to take care of your own food. As a hotel guest you can visit the hotel restaurant for lunch and/or dinner.
Not so at Schlosshotel Althörnitz. On the day of arrival we wanted to have dinner. In the empty restaurant we were asked for a Reservation. Since we didn't have any, we were expelled from the restaurant. Neither on the website nor at check-in were we advised of the need for a Reservation for the restaurant.
The next morning we asked the hotel manager for a chat. He only confirmed this procedure.
We then wanted to reserve a table for the evening, it was after breakfast around 9am. We were told that this was not possible as everything was fully booked.
In a holiday apartment you could have taken care of yourself. Crockery, cutlery and fridge are provided. It's all missing in the hotel. You should be able to use the restaurant.
We then left after one night, although we had booked for 4 nights. The financial loss is considerable, especially for pensioners, but the anger about this hotel is greater.
Rooms:
The room has a comfortable size. Unfortunately, the minibar has been removed (the grille of the fridge is still present), so you have no way to cool drinks or dog food. The room in the style of the 90s could be renovated again.
Pros: For our bitch there was a dog bed, food bowl, treats, dog bags and an information booklet in the room.

vielen Dank, dass Sie sich die Zeit genommen haben, uns Ihr Feedback zu Ihrem Aufenthalt in unserem Schlosshotel zu geben. Es tut mir aufrichtig leid, dass Ihr Besuch bei uns nicht Ihren Erwartungen entsprochen hat und es zu diesen Unannehmlichkeiten gekommen ist.
Leider hatten wir aufgrund von Krankheitsausfällen im Team eine eingeschränkte gastronomische Verfügbarkeit. Zudem waren über mehrere Tage hinweg viele Plätze im Restaurant im Voraus gebucht, wodurch unsere Kapazitäten rasch erschöpft waren. Aus diesem Grund haben wir unsere Gäste auf zwei Zeitslots aufgeteilt und konnten Reservierungen erst ab 20:00 Uhr annehmen. Es tut uns leid, dass dies bei Ihrer Anreise nicht klar kommuniziert wurde.
Im Gespräch mit unserer Rezeptionsleiterin wurde Ihnen angeboten, für Sie in einem nahegelegenen Restaurant einen Tisch zu reservieren, und auch für die kommenden Tage hätten wir gerne einen Tisch für Sie in unserem Restaurant bereitgestellt. Diese Optionen wurden jedoch leider nicht angenommen.
Bezüglich der Buchung bedauern wir sehr, dass keine Erstattung möglich war. Da Sie über einen Drittanbieter eine nicht stornierbare Rate gebucht haben, hatten wir hierauf keinen Einfluss. Als Entgegenkommen möchte ich Sie jedoch herzlich einladen, bei Ihrem nächsten Aufenthalt ein Abendessen in unserem Restaurant zu genießen. Bitte zögern Sie nicht, mich persönlich zu kontaktieren oder direkt über uns zu buchen, damit wir Ihren Aufenthalt nach Ihren Wünschen gestalten können.
Zum Thema Minibar: Wir haben die Minibars in den Zimmern bewusst abgebaut, da die Nachfrage nach diesem Service stark zurückgegangen ist. Dies war eine Entscheidung, die wir im Rahmen unserer Nachhaltigkeitsmaßnahmen getroffen haben, um unseren CO2-Fußabdruck zu reduzieren.

Mixed experience
The high shower entrance is dangerous for seniors.Our room 211 was quite simply equipped, including no refrigerator/mini bar, no safe, no coffee machine.The bike shed should offer more space for bicycles and with
sockets for charging the batteries. Breakfast was simple, but actually sufficient if then after 0900 clock would be added.
The 3 course dinner menu was very good on all 3 days. Free parking is available adequately and free of charge !!

Price - performance, we expected more !!️
Nice area and friendly staff....
We have been going on holiday for many years about 4 times a year > almost always hotels. We "never" had a room without fridge (not even mini), no chilled drinks and since this house also offers "room with dog" - rotten dog food.
Guys, you don't like fish and would like half board > fingers off !!️ For dinner there were two dishes and of them "always 1x fish", so eat the other or go hungry. The breakfast was good if you didn't always find a seat.
The beds > max. 3 out of 6 and a very small bath for this price range (225€ p.N. for 2 persons HP).
Zittauer Gebirge gladly again, but the expectations regarding this hotel were higher....
