Amazing hotel

Arrived on 20th September with friends and stay there for two nights. Their manager, butler and a monk waited us there to deliver the Welcome Gift-The Kha Ta. Although I am not good in English but the butler tried to use the translated machine to make our communication moved in smooth. This hotel was a real home from home and is very impressive.

A Great Place to Have a Holiday From Your Bhutan Trip.

We ended up here by chance, after the Como Punakha had made an error with our original booking. On New Year's Eve, my daughter and I were the only guests. Sometimes this feels lonely or empty, but not on this occasion. This hotel offers something different from the Bhutan lux norm. There is the Ben Bensley design, with bright primary colours and the whimsical details, like the proliferation of soft toy yaks in the suites. The basic concept is the tented luxury safari lodge, set beside a fast flowing gurgling river. The "tents" are vast. I think I my bed had room for four (or six!). There was a copper bath in an equally vast bathroom. I don't think you will even remember you are in a tent. A bicycle might help you get around the space inside your tent, let alone outside.
The intention to detail is impressive. There are six varieties of water infused with different medicinal herbs. A variety of snacks, should you get peckish. Pillow choices.
What really sets the Pemako apart is the resort feel. There is a certain tension here. Bhutan sets the Sustainable Development Fee and this can create an odd psychology, like you are in an expensive taxi with the meter running. You feel an urge to make the most of your limited time. See more dzongs, hike the trails, squeeze in another temple. The Pemako is the one place where you feel like falling off the trail and doing very little in style. In effect, having a holiday from the planned trip. There are many great places to stay in Bhutan, however this one feels like a good choice for a romantic long weekend, a honeymoon or to celebrate a special birthday. My daughter immediately grasped this and insisted we drop our existing plans and enjoy the resort to the full. What a good idea!
Standout experiences were many and varied. There was a blessing from a lama on arrival. I must mention Kinley our butler, who was so helpful, on hand to make any conceivable plan work and to drive us around in the golf cart. The spa was tried and tested and was found to offer a superior massage. Food was outstanding, a fusion of Indian, Bhutanese and International. The dining room is in a separate building and it was great to have breakfast on the terrace surrounded by the view. There is a separate traditional farmhouse where you can have cooking lessons or have a traditional Bhutanese feast.
Each tent has a heated outdoor swimming pool. This was my one and only swim in Bhutan. The outside air temperatures at sunset was cold, yet the pool steamed away and it was amazing to float on your back and stare up at the stars. It brought to mind a Japanese hot springs ryokan. A great added touch from Kinley was to ensure that my swimming trunks were dried and handed back at check out.
If you do decide to stay here, try to build some real downtime into your itinerary. It is a great spot to slow down and do very little.

Incredible, beautiful, Bhutans best kept secret!

Wow, great glamping, best tents ever, very large very well equipped, great minibar and wonderful HUGE bed, very. nice private pool. Most beautiful reception, great art, fantastic grounds. Only problem, it is far away and the waiters are not well trained and that is a shame for such a place. The butlers are fine, but the restaurant staff is more on the hopeless side, there urgent improvement is needed, you can not charge these prices and then have lousy service. But once this is taken care of, it is easily the very best hotel in Bhutan!

I truly appreciate their exceptional service.

Wonderful property and rooms very comfortable I stayed in two bedrooms villa and I didn't know how 4 nights went within a minutes. One moment that stood out was when I mentioned feeling a bit under the weather within a minute Butler reshma brought a comforting herbal tea and arranged a cozy set up in my room so,I could rest. This kind of thoughtfulness and care that truly sets them up apart. Reshu made me feel like having a close friend who genuinely cares about my comfort and happiness.Staff were very kind and helpful.
Thank you pemako team for making my stay wonderful.

Very good with some room for improvement

This is a very new resort and still has some growing pains.
The Monk welcome on arrival was inspirational as were meditation classes with him.
Our butler, Karma, was very friendly and obliging and provided great service. He is very professional and caring.
We found the rooms good but the beds are way too wide - you could fit a family of 6 in the bed! It was lovely to have a view of the river and housekeeping were extremely helpful. The AC was not very effective and the fans were noisy.
The food was generally good and they were very accommodating of our dietary needs, though we would have appreciated more organic locally grown foods to be served.
The spa treatment was so-so and we felt there was a lack of experience there plus limited options of treatments.
Overall, the team do everything they can to create a special experience and we are sure the property will continue to improve.

We’re delighted that you enjoyed the monk's welcome ceremony, meditation classes, and the attentive service provided by your butler, Karma. Your kind words about his professionalism and care mean a lot to us, and we will be sure to share your compliments with him.
It was also such an honor to have you join us during our hotel’s first annual day celebration! Your beautiful performance truly elevated the evening, and we’re so grateful for the joy you brought to the event.
We’re pleased to know you appreciated the river views, the helpfulness of our housekeeping team, and the efforts made to cater to your dietary preferences. Your suggestion for more organic, locally grown foods is well noted and aligns with our commitment to sustainable practices—we will certainly work towards offering more of these options.
At the same time, we regret that certain aspects of your stay, such as the bed size, AC performance, and spa treatments, did not meet your expectations. We will certainly work on your mentioned points to address and improve. We will also review the variety of spa treatments offered to enhance the experience for our guests.
