Really loved Vue Grand

From the moment we walked in to the stunning foyer, until the moment we left four days later, we enjoyed everything about the Vue Grand. Welcoming and attentive staff in all areas, a clean and comfortable room and lovely little spots to tuck yourself up with a book or a drink to soak in the ambience throughout the Vue. Great to see such wonderful custodianship of this beautiful old building. Would rebook in an instant if returning to the area.

A fire hazard

A fire hazard. My husband uses a mobility scooter. When I booked the room (previous November) I was advised that there were no disabled rooms but that we could get access from the car park at the rear and we could be provided with a larger room and bathroom. There are 3 or 4 bluestone steps at the front door. When we arrived we couldn’t find the rear door so I rang reception and they said they would come and open it We eventually found it up a rough side path. We then went out to the function we had come to Queenscliff for. When we returned at about 4.55pm the door was once again locked. Reception closes at 5.00pm so luckily we were in time to get it unlocked again. We were advised that no breakfast is provided by the hotel and we couldn’t borrow a toaster. The next morning we decided to go across the road to a cafe for breakfast at 8.00. The door out to the rear was locked so that my husband was unable to get out. I rang the overnight “emergency” number which went to message bank and i am still waiting for a response. Eventually we decided to try to manhandle the scooter and my husband down the front steps which we succeeded in doing. What if there had been a fire? I’m surprised they have a licence. Unimpressed to pay $318 for a not very clean 1970s style bedroom and bathroom. Wouldn’t recommend regardless of your fitness.

It is disappointing you did not raise any of your concerns with Management when you were staying but rather chose to write an inaccurate review on line.
As advised at the time of booking, we do not have disabled rooms at the historic Vue Grand, however you still chose to book and we (unfortunately) went out of our way to try and accommodate your requests. The rough side path you refer to is the Council owned pathway, not part of our hotel. You were provided with the 24 hour onsite Manager’s after hours phone number if required. You were correctly advised that we do not provide breakfast in the hotel and our rooms are not self-contained (ie cooking facilities). We do not offer guests toasters as they would be one appliance that would set off a smoke alarm! Had you looked at the framed fire escape plan on the wall in your room, you would have noticed that there is a designated fire escape which is wheelchair accessible 24 hours per day. Again, had you taken the time to ask, if you were so concerned, we could have resolved your concern immediately. The hotel has monthly fire inspections from a registered authority and is fully compliant. It seems you would be better suited to a modern hotel as you clearly have no appreciation of our historical 1881 hotel. Disappointing to read your ignorant comments and I regret we accepted your booking which we would not be doing in future.

Disappointing.

Kitchen closed 8 pm on a friday night. No glasses at rooftop bar would have had to drink out of a bottle. Paid $555 for the top room, great views but dirty windows spoilt the view.
Was the weekend of the music festival but you would have hardly known it was open.
Unfortunately it’s seen better days

Woeful wifi, Rooms looks out to the noisy lounge. Creaky Floor Boards, thin walls.

Stayed 1 night. Creaky floorboards, Woeful 1-bar wifi, my ground floor room looks into the noisy lounge, so window stayed closed throughout. Thin walls. Kettle on top of the bar ridge but had to move the fridge to access the plugs amid the dust. Reception close by 5, and needed the key to own the main door to reenter the building. Thankfully hot showers. Avoid.

A very good hotel, because during the Spring Festival, the hotels around Geelong were full, so I booked this hotel in Queenscliff. As a result, I found this is a very historic hotel, and the staff is very Dear, would recommend to friends.
